Overview

Koala's Flowers is a prestigous flower shop in the San Diego area. In order to expand their business they decided to add an online wing for their floral offerings. They partnered with Teleflora.com for their website, online store front and a shopping cart. Koala's Flowers approached Storms'i Media, LLC. in early 2006 in search of ways to increase their online sales. Their goal was to reach their prospects effectively and to deliver a professional, effective and courteous service to them.

Based on Koala's online marketing budget, Storms'i Solutions, LLC. devised a complete and thorough methodology with detailed planning and comprehensive approach to significantly improve Koala's Flower's online sales.

Challenges and Solutions

After a complete investigation of Koala's Flowers original site, Storms'i Solutions, LLC. discovered a number of problems that needed to be addressed to improve their sales.

Outdated Logo:

The original logo design was way behind in time and did not deliver the character of this establishment. Based on the essence of the business our team of design experts created a logo suitable and representative of what Koala's Flowers is all about!

Poor Site Design:

The original site design was also outdated and did not match the prestige and character of the business. All the web designs offered by Teleflora.com are template based. This in fact imposed a limitation in terms of design changes. However, Teleflora.com did agree that within the scope of the templates they offer, some of the landing pages could be modified to accommodate the Koala's Flower's business needs. Based on this, our design professionals selected the most suitable template from the collection of templates that Teleflora.com offered. They made changes in terms of product image arrangement and hierarchy. In addition, an offering section was created on all landing pages to include periodical offerings depending upon the marketing process in place.

Limited Attention to Customer's Needs:

On certain pages in the original site, not much attention had been given to the customer's needs. These pages were changed to accommodate for their needs and what they look for. Categorization was created so that customers can be directed to the right content depending upon their search criteria. Navigation was made simpler so that customers can reach their targets with minimal effort.

Lack of Traffic to Site:

Traffic to Koala's Flowers site was not very significant. Our marketing team did extensive research and analysis and came up with an online advertisement campaign to improve traffic to their site. Most of the marketing effort was based on Google Adwords (PCP). Targeted key words were selected with extreme care to lead only the prospect customers to the site.

Lack of attractive offerings:

The original site contained no offering except for a generic one that was provided by Teleflora.com once in a while. A new offering section was created on all landing pages. Our marketing and sales experts came up with a number of offering campaigns based on extensive research that would cater to customers needs for different occasions.

Results

Results from Koala's Flowers are still emerging as the changes have been implemented just recently. Yet, the results have been nothing short of impressive!

Traffic:

In a matter of 2 months the traffic to Koala's Flowers website increased by 400%. The increase in traffic was due to carefully selected keywords for the Google Adwords campaigns put together for various flower categories. Our continuous research and analysis also presented the fact that customer loyalty increased over this period of time resulting in an increase in the number of returning customers.

ROI:

Over the 2 months period online sales increased by 300%. The attractive and to-the-point landing pages as well as various offerings have contributed significantly to this effect. Improvement was also seen when customer's navigational behavior was taken into account in terms of product grouping and product presentation.
